Chairman & CEO
Since April 2013, Stéphane Israël is the Chairman and CEO of Arianespace, the world's leading satellite launch services company. Arianespace operates the Ariane 5, Soyuz and Vega launchers from the Guiana Space Center in French Guiana. Stéphane Israël is also Chairman and CEO of Starsem, the Euro-Russian company in charge of Soyuz commercial exploitation from the Baikonur cosmodrome.
Stéphane Israël is a high-level experienced professional in public economics and the aerospace industry. He holds degrees from the Ecole Normale Supérieure and the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA). He was named a judge in the French Court of Auditors in 2001, where he mainly participated in missions concerning French space policy and the Ariane launch system.
He moved to the aerospace industry in 2007, first as advisor to Louis Gallois, Chief Executive Officer of EADS, then in various operational management positions in the Defense branch of Astrium Space Transportation and the geo-information services division of Astrium Services. From May 2012 to April 2013, he was chief of staff in the cabinet of the French Minister for Industry, which includes the Ministry for Digital Economy, SMEs and Innovation.
Stéphane Israël is a member of the Boards of Directors of CDC International Capital, Havas and “Ecole normale supérieure de la rue d’Ulm”.
